Rom Schneider contributes:

At last I’ve traced a reasonable photo of my Granny Stella, attached hereto, taken c. 1913 / 1914 when she would have been 27 or 28 years old.

Please note that the scanning process has broadened her face considerably.  Because of the less advanced technology of that time, it is hard to believe but, under that sheitel she was a very fair blonde, with bright blue eyes.   From my recollections of her, going back to 1949 – 1950 (why oh why, when I have clearly datable memories from within about a year of my birth in 1944, can I not remember her before then?!?) she no longer wore a sheitel, probably discarded early on, but had pure silver-white hair and those eyes put Superman’s x-ray vision to shame.   …And nothing was art – the only toiletry / cosmetic she ever used was Sunlight laundry soap (not the body soap we have today) used with cold water.

Thanks to Roma Schneider, great granddaughter of Kofa Yusa Abromowitz (also my David Abromowitz’ grandfather), who shared this photo of her grandmother Stirrel Meyerowitz. Stirrel married Moishe Abromowitz. She was born 1886, and in this photo she is about 28.
